Booking my trip as above this Saturday hopefully
Would love us to be in the CCC
From memory, we no longer have contact with Jan at the SC do we?
Does that mean we cant try and organise transport in any way?
Depending on fixtures, will probably have to bite the bullet and pay the 30 quid for the membership which means you can get access to away tickets

ok so the fixture list has fucked me
flight gets into london at around 11 on boxing day, so im screwed getting to leeds by 3
away game on the 28th at stockport, very small away allocation as is hereford away on the the 3rd..no fucking new years game this season..grrr..oh well

bump
at this stage doing stockport away on the 28th, thanks to Jan she is attempting to organise tickets in the away section, otherwise will be home end for me

Also managed to convince the missus that "on the way back" from ireland, we should do a cheeky stop in leeds...so Feb 7th il be seeing us at home vs millwall, could be quite tasty Very Happy Very Happy

Only remembered yesterday, that due to me missing game this saturday due to a wedding, only 2 victory games for me until i leave... Crying or Very sad

Ahh I love this thread! Interesting to see how everyone has gone their different ways and great to look back on.

Personally, my plans have changed a fair bit. Looks like I will be going alone at this stage. I've saved up heaps of money (for me anyway) over the past two years and haven't missed a shift of work! I will be leaving early Feb 2009 after summer work at SEN has dried up, want to spend Xmas with the family etc.

When I get there, I've been guaranteed a two week work placement with Yorkshire Radio. Hopefully that will lead onto a job there, otherwise I'll have to look alternatively (working at the club, a local newspaper or radio station). If nothing in the media pans out, pub job it is I suppose. After I settle in, hopefully get a job, I'll be renting a flat or house on a six month lease somewhere in Yorkshire. Hopefully Headingley if possible - it's a great student area with bars/pubs/clubs/cheap meals everywhere. Also the cricket ground down the road, Leeds Rhinos also play in the Headingley complex and then ER about 20 mins away! Maybe Ex, you can offer some advice on if it's a good place? Also, when are you moving back over mate?

After the six months is up, I'll make a choice to stay there or come back home. University isn't a huge thing for me - the best degree in the business is a Certificate in Radio Broadcasting at TAFE anyway, or I can do Uni as a mature aged student (after I'm 21) so I won't be obligated to come back if I don't want to. The Ashes are on in the summer and the old man is coming over for the test at Headingley, plus I hope to do a bit of travelling with money saved up from work etc during the off-season. Catch as many homes and away (money permitting) as possible too.

Would love someone to travel with but it seems like we're all going at different times which is a shame. With two people, the cost of living is so much cheaper (ie bills/renting) and gives you much more cash for travelling/Leeds matches!

From what I understand...

Kenner - Travelling in July/August round Europe, Africa
Sammy - Obviously a kid makes it tough
Drewie - going over Xmas (may hopefully bump into you somewhere over there!)

Good luck to everyone, I hope you enjoy your trips and if your travelling UK in 2009 there should be a place to crash at (once i can afford it!)

Well that was written over 18 months ago - managed to stick to most of that plan very well actually, which is surprising for someone who changes their mind as much as me! Also fitted in a months travel in Europe so very happy with it all.

Anyway, thought I'd give this thread another bump. Not only is it fascinating reading, but I wanted to see if we could make this happen - at least get a few of us over for a while? I was speaking to Rev the other day - who is going over in March so hoping to catch the end of the season...and with a few of us planning to go over I thought I'd give it another bump.

Kenner has mentioned plans of living over there for a while, Ryno seems keen on a visit too. I'm gonna head over at the end of the Uni year for a few weeks before doing a bit of Europe too if I can afford it. If I pass all my units at the required score I can finish in mid October and don't have to be back until mid-March so got a few months to work around. Ed is also keen on travelling with me which would be great.

My housemate that I lived with in UK, big Leeds fan is coming out for Xmas to Oz so I won't be going then.... but I'd be happy to change some dates around if we got a few of us going at the one time.

We could get the Leeds Vic flag done up and hang it up at games... get access to meeting the team, I could organise going up to a training and getting all sorts of benefits now we are a Members Club. We'd also get home/away tickets without too much of a worry.

Dave, are you keen on coming - IIRC you haven't gone since your post saying you were thinking of doing so? Liam? Pat? I'd think Sammy is out with a little one, Tim?

Would be great to get a few of us over at one time.... update your plans here!

Good bump

I'm heading over in July, via the World Cup in South Africa
I've booked a flight Perth-Johannesburg-Zurich-London
Roughly 6 weeks in South Africa with 2 nights in Switzerland

Haven't done much planning for the UK, but am hoping to get a job in Leeds
Basing myself in Leeds like James did and hoping to get to most games
Will do some shorter trips around Europe whenever I want
Have a one way ticket so I'm unsure how long I'll be over
But a rough guess is anything from 4 months to a year
