Do the Leeds fans who follow Victory still meet up? If so what sort of numbers.
Now i have Fox,Ive been watchin some A League games and Iam very disappointed at the piss poor standard, empty stadia and general lack of atmosphere at games.
Not seen Victory this year will try again when they move to Storms stadium.
What do you Aussie fellas think? Can Melbourne support another soccer club?
Ive spent most of my 3 years here following the Storm and met some great people, we now go home and way as much as work permit as I did following Leeds for 35 years.
Will be taking in some Leeds games in August 2010, not been to Elland Rd for 4 years. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Hey Jim. I've been away in Europe and the UK from early May and only got back a few weeks ago so can't comment too much on the A-League stuff, but a few of the Leeds guys who go tend to stand in the South End and have a beer. (Dave, Kenner, Liam and Sam normally).

I don't even tend to go anymore, I just prefer to have a few beers in the city with my mates. I still make a few of the awaydays as I love the weekends away and I'll make the odd home game but my interest in Melbourne Victory/A-League is just so low these days I couldn't really care what the result is. The atmosphere has dropped off for a range of reasons but primarily I'd say because the FFA have tried to kill of the 'active support' at Melbourne Victory by a list of reasons longer than my arm. I think they sense a percentage Melbourne's support as a 'radical element' capable of bringing lots of bad publicity to the league, I certainly don't agree with what they have done though.

I really only have space for following one team passionately and that's Leeds United. I suppose living over there for six months and going home and away has opened my eyes to what real football is and this plastic franchise league just doesn't cut the mustard.

The standard of the A-League is piss poor and League 2 I'd say. Leeds would comfortably defeat any A-League side and you just need to see how well guys like Joel Griffiths and Michael Theoklitos have gone in League One when they were dominant in Oz. And watching football at the Telstra Dome is shocking....no arguments there either.

I think the new stadium will provide a much needed boost to football in this city and when you think so many football fans here have never seen football in a proper stadium bar the odd awaytrip possibly....it will have a great effect. Not sure how the 'Heart' will attract fans, it'll be interesting.

spot on jimmy, iv been in the country for most of this season, have been to two maybe three home games, still love the away days, home games are more about catching up with the Leeds lads and other mates around the football traps, at the pub ect.. the dome has killed it from me.. the south end is nothing compared to even last season.I guess its only five years old, and really cant be evaluated till about the 10 year mark.

James totally agree about The A league. Football is about passion, commitment, being part of a Gang/Group/community/ Belonging to a group who live and die by thier teams results, its about Belonging/Mateship and f*ck everyone else whos not in your Gang/club.. hate the others with a passion that bonds those that love their club.. Its the only thing in Life that matters to some people, they live for the weekend game..
Leeds United are probably the best at this, in the Top 5 five biggest supported clubs in the UK.. hated the most by other fans ,who in the main are just jealous of us.OUR club thats been robbed/relegated/treated like shite by the Football authorities but still gets up off the floor everytime after a huge kick in the Bollocks.
Thats why we are Leeds.....James you will now know from following the Whites around the UK what this means....Leeds United take thousands of Fans away to every pissy Ground in Div.1...Your not Famous anymore..You having a fucking laugh...
Great Support here in Melbourne...Lets just wake a few of them up... Very Happy
