Hello fella's - I have explained who I am, and my plans to move to Perth next year. Over the years I have had many disagreements with LUSC over various issues, mainly an out dated dinosaur leadership at the executive table, with them being too stuck in their ways & refusing to modernise and vocally dis-agree with issues publically that are not in the best interests of Leeds fans (Home and abroad).
In my opinion LUSC needs huge modernisation with fresh young leadership in order for it to utilise its 6000 members effectively, to become a powerful voice again that the club cannot afford to not listen to.
This is never going to happen despite the best efforts of many, Ken Bates has nothing to do with LUSC and has since formed LUMC which along with LUST is the only recognised Leeds fans organisation at present.
I admire what you lads are doing, flying the flag so far away but you have no official recognition by Ken Bates or the club despite the excellent work you have done with this site.
I appreciate that Membership is a serious financial none starter at present for you lads, But if this was to change - Where the club put a package together allowing a mutually beneficial Leeds United Members Club nationally in Oz would you be interested in going down this route? - As members of Leeds United FC, Not merely as members of a supporters Club?
Please discuss, I am happy to write to John Hemmingham (Head of Membership Development) and point out the lack of incentive for you as SC to convert to MC, And that an International Branch of Australia would be an asset to Leeds Fans worldwide!
thoughts please lads?? |

i wouldnt mind becoming a members club
that way we are "directly" supporting the club, however who knows where any cash would go, monaco anyone?
ken bates is the biggest c**t of all
but like ive told others, ive never been a fan of ray fell (personal opinion only, and not that of LUSV) He stood back and allowed risdale to do what he did without battering an eyelid, for what? SC priority access to tickets for glamour ties at old trafford and the like
Obviously its a pretty major decision, and given im still not financial my opinion drops down somewhat
edited to say im a big fan of the national concept of a members club
good luck with hemmingham, i emailed him a few times and never got a response |

At the mo as a few have said, You get fuck all for your money in Oz apart from a membership card and number. Over in UK we get LLL Magazine delivered to our door, access to the Members and Billys Bar, priority tickets, - meet the legends of Revie's team, discount in club shop etc................Alot of this means nothing over in Oz but if the package could be made attractive to you as a group then it may be worth looking at.........It would be a coup to be the first International Branch?.....It could run along side LUSC Victoria maybe? |

that would be fantastic
but i dont think bates would allow that
a mate of mine off waccoe went to a sportsmens night where lorimer was a guest speaker, he wanted to get lorimer to sign a program for me, saying best wished Leeds united supporters club Victoria, lorimer refused as we weren't a members club. When he told me i was totally shocked, and couldnt believe the autocratic nature of the board on this issue. I think it will have to be one or the other for us.
If they made the package attractive it would be awesome, i think Members get some sort of members pack at the start of each season? little petty things like mousepads, phone holders stuff/bumper stickers stuff like that, its only small, but would be nice |

Its worth exploring but Yes the leadership at Elland Rd now frown upon LUSC and all associated!! - sad but true!. Lets see what everyone else thinks and we can draft a letter, I will even go to the ground and ask to see Hemmingham on your behalves if needed! |

It is an interesting issue Morleyboy, one which has been debated out on several occasions. A point has been raised recently about the lack of satisfaction from the Supporters Club re: not sending any stuff out to us apart from those little yellow cards. In my opinion, Morleyboy, feel free to negotiate with John Hemmingham and see what can be arranged for us, however I would be leaning towards not accepting it currently.
I fucking hate Bates for a start. Whilst the LUSC has been a bit slack, they did organise a terrific away trip for me at Coventry and helped Chris out with the Southampton game and for that - they must be commended. They have been round for ages and who cares what you think of Roy Fell - they are Leeds to the core.
Joining the Members Club feels to me like bowing into the pressure of Bates. If the Members Club can put together a strong package than I may have reason to change my mind. I see now harm in having a chat to John, Morleyboy and see what can be setup and then put it to the members of Leeds United Victoria. Do keep us in touch and I'm very interested in the thoughts of Dave, Chris, Gaff, Tim, Liam, Sammy, Ian, Harry, Kiza... |

James, I agree with you on the Bates score, But I seriously do not think he will be Chairman come the end of this season, I have a contact extremely close to Bates's inner circle and there will be big developments going forward, However any change of leadership at Elland Rd will not mean good news for LUSC, It wont get their place back at the top table!
I agree that LUSC provides a fantastic service for fans to away games, but it does little else despite having 6000 members, I tip my hat to them on that score, but not in the way it conducts itself on issues that are of major concern to the fans - price, product, service! -LUSC is never heard on these issues - and I live in Leeds!
I will draft something to Hemmingham, I do see your point ref "giving in" to Bates, But sometimes you have to conform to be heard, and once your heard to enforce change! - Please keep open minded with what I would liek to try and do, Ta Lads! |

John
Please help, My family and I are to emigrate from Leeds to Perth in Western Australia next year. I have been in discussion with the Victoria Whites based in Melbourne and they are interested as a group of becoming an Official members club, Therefore I would like to discuss how this can be done with you on their behalf. As the Victoria Whites have members from Sydney and Perth, This would ideally need to be a Australian National LUFC members club!!
One of the concerns they have is the overall membership package (whilst attractive to Leeds based fans with the benefits on offer) it does not provide them with any form of association and belonging to the club, (LLL Magazine, Club shop discount, access to Billys Bar etc are totally irrelevant to the group as a whole), However they do wish to feel a permanant association to the club via membership but the package is not currently financially viable to them if they are to only receive a membership card.
Please can you on behalf of Leeds United FC put forward a proposal for setting up a National Australian LUFC Members Club, that would give the Oz based Leeds fans a sense of ownership and belonging to the club they love, Along with some LUFC products they can proudly display or wear and cherish!
They have a very good website/forum & community in existance and a very good webmaster who could easily change the design to reflect the affiliation to the club. When I land in Australia I wish to keep my membership and also work for the good of LUFC Members Club Australia - If we can collectively/jointly the project off the ground, I have no wish to work for the Leeds United Supporters Club though which the branch is in its current form.
Please could you give the idea and project some thought, LUFC Australia and its people would be an asset to the members club.
Regards
Ian Brown

they are indeed leeds to the core, and they really do good work. Currently theres no doubt that SC is easily the best deal for us, ideally would love to have both, but under the current regime, it just wont happen. Best we can do is await for a response from the letter (great work ian!) and see what theyd be willing to offer us
interesting times await... |

I must admit, at this point in time, I'm content to continue what we are doing right now with LUSCV. Seems to be working very well.
At the same time though, it will be interesting to see the reply from John and what he has to say and what they have (if anything) to offer.
I guess this gives us another thing to chat about on Friday. |

I can't give my opinion right now as v. busy but just wanted to point out that Perth are not part of victorian branch, they stand alone like we do. We have two members from nsw, but otherwise everyone is from Victoria.
If the members club wants us they could start by offering a free lufc tv subscription with the membership fee.... |

Hopefully the club are willing to negotiate a package, If John does not reply I will go straight to Ken Bates. (I have emailed Ken Bates twice on some fans issues and he has called me personally to discuss)
I have had no luck contacting the Perth lads so if Its okay with you I will hang around here until I fully have an idea regarding LUFC fans activity in WA
Not sure if free LUTV will be on the agenda, But we can try - How do you guys subscribe to this? Surely if one of you registered and paid an annual subscription its only a case of sharing the log in and password amongst yourselves? |
