Andy Loftus has asked for this to be passed on to all members, Leeds people.
Chris,
As you may be aware on 5th April 2010 its the 10th Anniversary of my brother Chris and Kevin Speight deaths at the Leeds V Galatasaray game.
We have started organizing events to commemorate this date with all the money being donated to candle lighters which is a Children's cancer charity bases at Leeds St James's hospital.
Please could you pass this information on to all your members and ask them to support us in any way they can. There is a donations section on the site which will allow them to make online donations if they wish. They can also register for the upcoming events if they would like to take part.
If you would like to know more about the charity or events then please visit Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |
many thanks
regards
Andy Loftus |

This is a terrific initiative and something I hope we can support with a group donation.
They have a few different events going on here culminating in a fun day at ER in April I think - even if it's only small...I think a contribution would be a good thing to do. |

Bit of a bump on this thread.
Have seen on WACCOE that the lads are struggling a bit to raise the money intended, maybe we could lend a helping hand.
I am thinking that we could potentially raffle off the signed match ball we get as a gift from LUFC for signing up... and send the proceeds to these guys?
I think we should keep that home shirt for longevity, having it hanging up somewhere in 10 years time saying "that was the team that won us the league".... but where would it be kept etc?
Could also do the shirt. Maybe at the Kettering game. On a disappointing note, have sent LUFC couple of emails in the last week or two with no response. Hoping its not a case of now they have us signed up, they lose contact as their service had been absolutely A grade up until this.
Keen to hear other ideas too for the Chris & Kev foundation |

The raffle idea is good James.
Does the Dickens not have space in the wall for the Leeds shirt? Would be mint to get it framed and put up somewhere like that eh?? |

Will see what the others think re raffle, or maybe we just make a contribution as a group. I'd like to see us do something.
The Dickens probably do have space, but its the main football pub in Melbourne so you've got Scum, Chelsea and all sorts in there. I can see it being smashed on purpose or by accident and a shirt of a title winning campaign going to waste... |

Good point mate.
Got me thinking though, do they have a Leeds shirt up at all though? We could get one framed (unsigned) and present it to the pub to put up, seeing as its the un-offical home of the members club. Think it would be a great bit of publicity for us, and also gets the name of the club going!
I could definatly see them putting a photo of the members club and the shirt going up in the programme and Leeds Leeds Leeds.
What does everyone think? |

We could also try Cheers Bar here in Sydney as well as you know that is almost the football pub in Sydney with all the football shirts on the walls and there's always football on the telly as well.
