Got an email from Jan telling me that forms and fees will be due on August 1. Time to work out what we want to do. She has again kindly offered to allow us to pay into her australian account and then she will pay on our behalf.
Thoughts? Suggestions? |

Can you outline the COST involved?
The I think a small fee (eg a tenner) to keep memberships up amd allow us to do stuff (expressive arent I!!!)
Stuff = bbq's, football tops, merchandise, cover costs for functions and internet activities - whatever
I just dont think this year it should be free - all the work folks did and others just lapped it up - doesnt sit right with me |

I have sent an email off to clarify the costs for the upcoming season, from memory, last year was 10 stg for the club, 1 for each adult and 50p for children. We have $90 in the account.
Regarding it being free, I note on the membership list of people that we paid for quite a few names that I do not know. Others may know them perhaps, maybe they came to the dickens for the match.. but you raise a good point there Pete.
One could also go one step further and ask does financial membership of the club give us anything in return? Interested to hear what people think. |

Very good point mate, know the sc hasn't been getting you the tickets directly (think Jan acts on her own now) but didn't think of this benefit. |

Definitely have some kind of cost for membership this season. I think the decision to go FREE last season worked well especially after being relegated and in general, being a pretty low time as a Leeds fan over last pre-season.
The fact it was free saw more people join and in effect we gained a hell of a lot more people on our database. That was a big plus.
Now that they've been involved in some capacity (doesn't matter that it was free), if we get a membership package together with possibly a merchandise item or at least have that as a separate option, they might be more inclined to sign up again.
After last season and with the promise of the season ahead, we should be doing more to get some funds for our supporter club so we can perhaps create more merchandise and of course aim for player sponsorship in the future etc. We clearly have numbers on our side going by the turnout and general enquiries over the play-off period.
I'm happy for us to keep affiliated with the SC. It's our only real connection to Leeds as a supporter club and as Patty mentioned, has some other benefits too. |

Confirmation from Jan today that costs will be
10 pounds for the club
1 pound per member
50p per junior
She also said that she will be trying to get in contact with Kilkenny and asking him to write something for us on being an Aussie playing for Leeds. |

So where do we go from here?
Do we have two options?
a- membership only $5 (would cover the fee and leave a little for a project, could be less)
b- membership + merchandise $30??
The money is due August 1 so we need to get organised on this. |

A five ris f-all - Dont worry about merachandise - if folks want it they can buy it
A tenner pays our dures and gives us money for a project as well
I vote $10 fee |

so do we, for the time being, offer membership at say $10. we need to have this sorted asap. then a few weeks later we unveil the merchandise and sell that as is, with a small discount for members. agree that $10 is nothing, and am sure that most posting on this site would agree, however others may be less inclined when the cost reaches a certain point. were the people who signed up last year signing up only to get their mitts on the hot shirt? some perhaps, if we went down this path do we make the merchandise members only? there needs to be an advantage to membership bar the little 1970s style card and match day benefits when in england. |

$10 sounds fair enough. I like the idea of merch being available to members only. If you're going to purchase our merchandise then surely you should be able to chuck in a tenner for the clubs benefit.
I'm happy with that and then once we have our initial payment sorted, we can bring out some merch.
We need to decide what we want to do this season so we can advertise it with the $10 sign-up fee. They will be less inclined to sign up if we say membership is $10. If we say, sign up now for $10 and you get the right to purchase a limited edition scarf/polo etc, we'll get a better response. |
