Tommi Ameobi and Dave Lucas have been offered new one year deals, while Darren Kenton and Alan Thompson (retiring) are both set to leave the club.

Poyet was on radio leading up to the Final and they asked him about Howson. He said he rated him etc as you would expect him to say especially after his exploits in the away leg vs Carlisle.

I'm wondering if this rumor has just started from that interview and actually doesn't have any substance behind it... or at least that's what I'm hoping!

Very good point regarding Becks/Hulse Sammy. As you mentioned, not replacing Hulse was one of the key factor leading to relegation.

Hopefully this time though, if we did get a decent offer from Newcastle and took it, we'd be in the position now to use the funds on the squad rather than our debts.

If no decent offer comes in, I'd be happy to keep Beckford but we definitely need another class striker to fill the void that Freedman will leave. Kandol isn't a 1st choice, Elding I haven't seen enough of yet and Constantine looks like he'll be on the move.

Excellente!

JONNY Howson has signed a new extended contact with Leeds United.

The young midfielder, who turned 20 last week, made 33 appearances in only his second season.

He also scored two goals in Leeds's semi final win over Carlisle in the play offs.

Manager Gary McAllister said: "It's natural progression to keep players like him."

I love this Garry Mac quote regarding Kenton aswell

"Darren came in on loan at first and he was asked to play in two or three different positions. One thing you could be assured of is that he always gave his best.

"But, I'm looking for young Scotty Gardner to pressure Frazer (Richardson) next season and I've got Ben Parker back as well, and I want to leave the path open for the young players."

ENGLISH Championship side Burnley look set to end Derek Riordan's hell at Celtic - despite interest from Leeds United.

Elland Road manager Gary McAllister is preparing a £500,000 move for the out-of-favour Parkhead ace.

McAllister sees Riordan as the player who can boost his team's chances of making a push for promotion next season.

However, Leeds' failure to win their play-off final against Doncaster nine days ago and subsequent participation in next season's English League One has put a dent in their hopes of landing the ex-Hibee.

Would be over the bloody moon if this somehow happened, he was a gun before he went to f*ckin Celtic.

We've been linked with him a few times over the last few years. Would be a great signing. He was very prolific at Hibs before his move to Celtic.

We also supposedly want Trevor Sinclair and Jason Puncheon. Not that happy about trying to get Sinclair, but Puncheon would be a very good signing imo.

More news on Riordan

Quote:
Skysports.com understands Leeds United are interested in signing Celtic attacker Derek Riordan.

The Scotland cap is expected to leave Parkhead over the summer after struggling to make an impact with Gordon Strachan's side.

Riordan started just two games in the SPL last season and was critical of manager Strachan towards the end of the campaign.

Burnley had an offer for the 25-year-old rejected in the January transfer window, while Preston North End recently denied any interest.

However, Leeds are understood to be weighing up a bid for the former Hibernian ace during the summer.

Leeds boss Gary McAllister is looking to add to his squad for next season after missing out on promotion to the Championship.

McAllister's side lost to Doncaster Rovers in the League One play-off final and the Whites are determined to secure automatic promotion next term.

Burnley got rejected, hopefully were in.

If we get Riordan, I will be stoked.

We've been chasing him for about 4 yrs now - ever since we got relegated. Hard to take in someone from Celtic, but when he and Becks are running rampant up front I'm sure we can forgive him...

The good thing here is Strachan (Celtic boss) and Garry Mac are old mates, part of the 92 Championship winning season, so IF it ever was gonna happen it will happen now.

Beckford and Riordan starting, Kandol and Tom Elliot (who will be a star!) on the pine and Elding and the young lad Ovington in the ressies. Looks like a good bunch of fwds, Riordan is small and will like it on the ground - as will JB - so we'll keep the ball on the ground. Kandol can come on if we're in trouble and play the targetman - with Becks and Riordan playing off him.

Next years side if all goes to plan....

Ankergren/Lucas
Richardson/Gardner - Huntington/Heath - Lubo/Rui - NEW LEFT BACK/Parker
Robinson/Carole - Dougie/Prutton - Howson/Hughes - Johnson/Ovington
Beckford/Kandol - Riordan/Elliot

Cover in all spots, the young kids will get a run (Gardner, Parker, Ovington, Elliot) from what GM has been saying which is encouraging, and that's a fucking fine squad!

Quite possibly the most positive post I've ever seen from you!

But I agree entirely with everything you said. That's a solid looking League 1 team right there and Riorden would run rampant in this League. Would lift Becks as well with that quality up beside him.

No more long balls would be great! Playing some attractive football while claiming our spot at the summit is an exciting proposition. Stoked that Gary Mac wants a youthful feel to the team.

Also, is Heath officially gone yet?

If I think any more negative thoughts about Leeds, I just might top myself!

I was thinking the other day, after spending all that to get to Wembley, our lifes would be alot easier without Leeds! Save money, disappointment etc. Last five years we've had six managers, deducted 25 points, relegated twice, lost two playoff finals, lost all our heroes...

But we wouldn't have it any other way. When we get back to where we belong, it's going to be so fucking enjoyable. 'UPS AND DOWNS' hey!

Ever since getting back from UK, copped so much shit from people at school/old school/work etc....and they get angry cause we are so proud to be Leeds. I give them the salute and say 'leeds and proud of it'...They don't understand why we still follow them and hate that we are so proud to follow Leeds United Football Club, and thats what I love!

Keep the faith brothers and sisters! *ends Benny Hinn voice*

To all the newbies who've signed up recently, make sure you get involved with things here at Leeds United Victoria. It makes following Leeds so much easier when you've people to share the success and the sadness with...people to sing Leeds songs with you at the football, people to play football matches wearing Leeds kits....We have a solid core of 8-10 lads, but we'd love more people to get involved and meet some more Leeds lads.

MOT!!
