Gday folks
Seems that you guys have the rights for the English Championship playoffs (Soccer). Any chance we can get these shown in Oz. Theres a mighty popular team in there called Leeds United who have a massive fanbase worldwide, and have set ground attendance records at 20 of the 23 away games this season
Last weeks game Leeds had the fourth highest crowd in the whole of England - Only 3 Premier league mtaches had more!!!
Big club, heaps of fans
Go on, show the games, you know you want to!!!

Ok, no need to email anymore. Surely they could have just said this from the start?

We are aware of the number of fans who are keen to see the League 1 play-offs. We have received hundreds of enquiries over the past fortnight, and based on such interest we would certainly seek to broadcast these games if we could.
Unfortunately however, Setanta will be unable to get the rights to the League 1 play-offs, regardless of if Fox Sports has the rights or not, due to matters regarding rights issues that unfortunately cannot be divulged.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and hopefully we can resolve these issues for future seasons.

So what are we gonna do then guys....we know the scenario - there's no possible TV coverage
we may not make the final but even if we don't, we need to have some plans organised if we do so we can try and get as many people as possible there
We need to have a meet up for the final, preferably not at someones house huddled around a computer!
Gaff - an idea I had that you could explore were your Leeds mates at Doncaster Rovers Soccer Club? (not the shite in the UK!) I remember the President was a leeds fan and speaking to him at the CCC playoff..if we were to go up he said we were always welcome to use their club rooms and watch the game there.
if we hire a projector (cant be that much), pay some money for a good stream and get a laptop set up in there, then we could get a good 50-100 people there imo. have drinks at bar prices with profits going back to the club and a BBQ or something....anything to raise a bit of cash for the club.
obviously they'd need an internet connection there - maybe they do?? if they dont i cant really see a solution, but we need to explore all possible avenues - and asap - so we can plan for the final
hopefully we can sort something out soon! thinking caps on boys.. |

Just got a call from Hargy (Michael). It's his dad who is the President at Doncaster and he said we'd be able to use their rooms if we wish.
There is an internet connection there and I'm pretty sure there will be a way to make a connection to a tv/projector. What does everyone think of this?
Michael mentioned they have a committee meeting on Monday night so would be able to discuss it then.
Is it too little notice to inform everyone for this first game? Should we just do it for the 2nd leg and final (if we make it)? Or just the final?
What's everyones thoughts? |

Just had a chat with Pete. He thinks perhaps we just do this for the Final should we make it. I'm thinking the same although if there is interest for the 2nd leg against Carlisle, it can be done.
I just called Steve (Doncaster President) and he has no problems opening the club rooms for either the 2nd leg or the Final.
The room can fit over 150 people, they have an internet connection and a plasma. If need be, we can hire a projector screen.
Doncaster Rovers would look after the bar for the night too which is great.
It's up to us though to make sure we help clean up the rooms (any rubbish etc) afterwards which is no problem.
I'm going to head down to the clubrooms probably on either Wednesday or Thursday night to have a look. If anyone wants to come down too, please feel free to. |

Sounds like a winner to me fellas. At this stage I'd say we do it only for the final providing we make it. Doncaster isn't the best for public transport so might have to get an email out early and then we can organise lifts if need be too. Ideally we would want to do a test run somehow just to make sure it all works, would be a fucking catastrophe if we had everyone there and weren't able to show the thing. |

Haha, what an idea! Absolutely stoked they have internet and a plasma, what are the chances?
Credit to Hargy, Dave and Gaff for chasing this up. Let's try and do it for both games if possible, final a must, but still think how desperate non-tech savvy leeds fans will be to watch these games...
dont forget the pull we have down here boys! fucking happy |

Hey all, firstly i want to say that im a die heart Leeds fan and have been for many years, I think you have all done a great job in organising a place to watch the Play off final if we make it of course. I remember the play off for the CCC a few years back at the charles dickson, it was such a great atomsphere ( even though we lost). You will have to let me know if everything works out at doncaster as i would love to come and watch, ( better then liestion to it on the radio)
Thanks heaps
Matthew

Definitely interested in going to Doncaster Rovers for this... though it should be noted that I got kicked out of that club and therefore may turn up in disguise. |
